Qualifiers for the Academic Esports World Tournament (AEWT) have officially begun. Whereas the previous AEWT was held in Maui, Hawai’i last year, this years AEWT will be hosted in Sydney, Australia!

Seven ambassadors are currently being selected to go take part in this event in January 2026, to compete in both gaming and academic challenges. The tryouts include practicing a variety of games, but also making sure the team is made up of individuals with debating, presentation and game design skills. As for games, the players are practicing a variety of games, including League of Legends, Valorant, Rocket League, and TFT, while improving their communication and cooperation skills.

A recent practice session incorporated a digital guest lecture by Yousef “Rexorion” Mohseni, Assistant Coach for the MOUZ Esports team. While details of what was discussed is strictly confidential, the lecture was key to developing a variety of team skills and for building team morale.
